Professional Development for Teachers with English Language Learners

Development Workshops & Parent Involvement Programs

A 1.5 hour webinar training for the implementation of programs offered by The Latino Family Literacy Project™ is provided for teachers, administrators, school staff, ESL teachers, and family and community engagement coordinators. The webinar provides a complete cultural competency training for understanding Latino immigrant parents. Parents learn how to read with their children, develop a reading routine at home, and learn new English language skills and vocabulary to work with their children at home for school success. School staff need to be trained only once to be able to implement any of our programs, since they are structured with the same format, and can choose to implement any age-specific program. Once trained, staff can also attend a refresher webinar.

The training workshop provides everything needed to implement the program, including a cultural competency overview for working with Hispanic ESL parents, and uses the step-by-step method for each age appropriate program.
